Los Angeles-based celebrity stylist Lucy Warren has made a name for herself curating looks for actors, creatives, and personalities on and off the big screen, from red carpets, to editorial shoots and personal styling. Her work has been featured in prestigious publications including New York Times, Glamour UK, InStyle Australia, and GQ, but her latest accomplishment is perhaps her most powerful yet: becoming a mother.

Since welcoming her daughter Daisy earlier this year, Lucy’s signature aesthetic; classic yet timeless, has evolved to embraced a refined approach to personal styling that reflects both the demands of new motherhood and her love for effortless outfitting.

In this Style Edit, Lucy shares how her Australian roots, Los Angeles lifestyle, and new role as a mum have shaped her aesthetic. We asked her to style three looks featuring her favourite portier pieces to prove that practicality and polish can absolutely go hand in hand.

For an off-duty look, I’ve styled the Portier Limitless Carrier in Houndstooth Marle with a mix of pieces that feel both effortless and put-together, exactly what I need in this season of life. I started with Wardrobe.NYC’s Bomber Jacket. I love that it’s a little structured but still relaxed, and Christine Centenera can do no wrong in my book. Underneath, I’ve layered it over MATE the Label’s Organic Leggings. They're sustainably made, flattering, and easy to move in. I paired them with the Margo Tee from LESET, which is the perfect elevated basic that’s soft but holds its shape. I’ve gone for the Yves socks by Commesi to feel a little luxe even if just at home. If heading out, I’d throw on a pair of adidas Samba OGs, and a watch like the Tissot Classic Dream Lady. Finally, no matter how casual the look, I always finish with statement eyewear. These rectangular sunglasses from Saint Laurent instantly elevate the whole outfit.

To dress up your favourite denim, style the Portier Brio Belt Toddler Carrier in Ecru with pieces that feel elevated but still easy to wear. Start with these AGOLDE high-rise straight-leg jeans, a staple that will help you feel pulled together. To soften the look, add the Henri top from Dôen. It comes in a few colours and adds just the right amount of romantic detail. For a fun contrast, add a pop of colour with these Proenza Schouler Perforated Ballet Flats in red - they keep things playful and unexpected. I’m currently coveting the North South Park tote from The Rowe as the perfect everyday carryall. Finally, finish the look with a pair of minimal yet statement earrings like these Triple Time Earrings from Mega by my dear friend and fellow stylist Dani Michelle, and a pair of Oval Saint Laurent sunglasses.

The weekend for me is a time I can wear whatever I want, but chasing after a toddler you want to be comfortable too. I’ve taken the The Brio Belt Toddler Carrier in Jet Black and paired it with the Sebastiane Skirt by Dôen. It’s beautifully feminine, moves with you, and comes in a few wearable colours. Pair it with the Boyfriend Tee from Éterne and layer under the V-Neck Cardigan from Almina - the proportions here are really flattering and easy to throw on. For shoes, I’ve added a little polish with The Row’s Western Boots. They're the definition of quiet luxury and just elevate everything. I’m also a longtime fan of Australian label St. Agni, and this Woven Tote is one of those beautifully made pieces that’s understated but impactful. To finish, I love adding a little hint of metallic like the Orb Necklace from Bagatiba. They’re such simple details but make a plain tee feel styled and subtly bring the whole look together.

How has becoming a mother influenced your approach to styling, both personally and professionally? Have you found new inspiration or challenges in balancing fashion with motherhood?

Becoming a mother is such a wild transformation both physically and mentally. Women are absolute superheroes! To grow, birth and feed your baby is one of the hardest and most amazingly beautiful experiences. This transformation has influenced my world in so many ways, especially in my approach to styling. Being a new Mum, with limited time my style has to be efficient and effortless but also help me feel like my best postpartum self. Having a minimalist wardrobe, streamlines putting an outfit together. Everything in my wardrobe fits (all my too-small pre-pregnancy clothing are in storage) and items are stylish but comfortable. The key is timeless and classic pieces and then adding a couple of on-trend styling items to keep it fresh and fun. Realising how rewarding this approach is, I’ve started applying this minimal aesthetic to my work as a stylist. Giving my clients a very curated, small but beautiful collection of timeless looks makes choices easy and such a bonus when almost every piece works together, you can create multiple looks.

What advice would you offer to others in the fashion industry who aspire to balance personal life changes, like motherhood, with professional growth?

Embrace the evolution. Your priorities and perspective will shift, and that's not a limitation - it's an opportunity to refine your aesthetic and approach. Don't try to maintain the same pace or methods you had before; instead, find new ways to work that honour both your professional ambitions and personal life. For me, becoming more selective and intentional with my choices has actually elevated my work. Trust that the skills and passion that got you here will adapt and grow with you. Now, I just have to take my own advice!

Can you share with us some pieces you’ve been living in during the newborn stages and how you’re navigating dressing for yourself as well as for function and practicality with a baby?

I'm currently breastfeeding my little one, so I've been living in shirts with buttons and anything easy to feed in. I'm loving the Californian brand Dôen; their cotton voile tops are super soft and feminine and make me feel put together, which is a must, especially when I'm running on very little sleep with a newborn. I pair them with relaxed boyfriend jeans and some cute flats, and I'm comfortable enough to wear this at home with my baby but dressed up enough to head out for work or a meeting. It's all about finding pieces you can wear for any occasion that make you feel like yourself, especially when everything else feels completely new and different.

Having been born and raised in Australia and now residing in Los Angeles, how have the two shaped your aesthetic and approach to styling? Do you find elements of Australian fashion influencing your work in the U.S?

I love supporting and working with both established and up and coming Australian fashion designers. The laid back, effortless aesthetic which I feel comes from Australian culture, is very much a part of my style. I love introducing my clients to brands like Sir or two of my current favourites, which are sustainable brands and a win/win: Muse The Label and St Agni.
