The pregnancy and postpartum period is a time of joy and adjustment as you embrace motherhood. Amidst the beautiful chaos, it's essential to prioritize self-care and reclaim your sense of beauty and confidence. Introducing Camille, where she’ll share practical and effective beauty tips that you'll want to use. From skincare routines to quick makeup hacks, these tips are designed to help you look and feel your best during this transformative phase of your life.

Hi, I’m Camille, long-time beauty product lover and content creator (@onabeautybender). I’m a busy mum of three and I’m all too familiar with the difficulties of pregnancy and postpartum; trying to juggle everything while often losing ourselves amidst the chaos and often not having the time or energy to do anything about it.

I’ve tried and tested almost every product on the market and have a few tips and product recommendations up my sleeve.

Embrace Minimalism

With a newborn demanding much of your time and attention, simplifying your beauty routine is key. Embrace a minimalistic approach by focusing on skincare essentials. Cleanse your face with a gentle, nourishing cleanser and follow up with a lightweight moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated. A tinted moisturizer or BB cream can provide light coverage and even out your complexion without feeling heavy.

Australian beauty brand, Holme Beauty, have an incredible range of primers that are just pure magic on the skin. Don’t let the thought of a primer mislead you, because these are so much more – an all-in-one product in just one easy step. Consider it your 8-hours of uninterrupted sleep in a tube. The formula blurs imperfections, adds slight coverage, hydrates, and gifts your skin with an unmatched ethereal radiance.

I use this alone, and I am glowing. Add some mascara and eyebrow gel, and I look polished and put together with minimal effort.

Prioritize Skincare

Sleepless nights and hormonal changes can take a toll on your skin. Prioritize skincare to address specific postpartum concerns. Look for skincare products that are safe for breastfeeding if applicable. Incorporate a serum or facial oil into your routine to restore moisture and radiance.

Let’s be honest, we don’t have the energy to complete a full skincare routine (if any routine at all) every single night. We need that one hero product that gives you supermodel skin in a bottle and I’ve found it. Meet Saint Louve’s Vitamin B3, B5 & Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum. It Instantly improves moisture levels within the skin, visibly reduce dehydration, fine lines, whilst unveiling a luminous glow. All their serums are designed to work synergistically and target key skin concerns to unveil saintly skin.

Enhance Your Eyes

When time is limited, focus on enhancing your eyes—the windows to your soul. Conceal any dark circles or puffiness with a brightening concealer. Use an eyelash curler to open your eyes instantly. opt for a lengthening mascara to add definition without the need for complicated eye makeup. Keep your eyebrows groomed and shaped to frame your face beautifully.

A handy tip is to keep your favourite eye cream in the fridge. Not only will the cooling effect de-puff and brighten, but the sensation of it on your skin will help your mind focus and you’ll feel refreshed. I love the Charlotte Tilbury Cryo Recovery Eye Serum to be ideal for those sleep deprived days. The cooling metal applicator refreshes and depuffs in an instant, while the lightweight serum formula deeply hydrates without the heaviness of a rich cream.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Hydration is key for both your body and your skin during the postpartum period. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to nourish your body and maintain healthy-looking skin. Consider investing in a hydrating facial mist or setting spray to refresh your skin and boost moisture levels throughout the day.

Our skin reflects our health. Hydration is essential in healing, balance, clarity, and is particularly important in breastfeeding. Restore essential vitamins and nutrients through the use of hydration aids like Mini + Me Hydramama isotonic drink. These will replenish energy levels and provide electrolytes, folate, B6 and Vitamin C in a tasty sugar-free drink. The only way to get that lit-from-within effortless glow is to hydrate.

Take Care of Your Hair

Postpartum hair changes are common, so show your locks some extra love. Use a nourishing shampoo and conditioner to keep your hair healthy and hydrated. Embrace low-maintenance hairstyles, like a chic ponytail or a stylish bun, that can be quickly achieved without compromising style. Experiment with trendy hair accessories to elevate your look effortlessly.

The use of a good dry shampoo before bed will make things much easier in the morning. Think of it as a preventive measure to ensure hair is looking full of life instead of limp and oily.  Overnight the formula will soak up any oils and add volume to your hair. Bonus points for one that smells amazing, this will mask any milk or baby vomit because that’s just inevitable.  I love the Moroccan Oil Dry Shampoo range. You can pick the variation that suits your hair colour. The product itself is slightly tinted and blends into hair seamlessly— no white powdery finish in sight. It adds volume, texture, and a lovely fragrance, as well as being virtually undetectable.

Self-Care Rituals

Incorporate self-care rituals into your daily routine to promote overall well-being and radiance. Find moments to relax and unwind, whether it's enjoying a soothing bath with aromatic bath salts or practicing meditation to calm your mind. Don't forget to treat yourself to a well-deserved pampering session with a luxurious body scrub or moisturizing body lotion.

Quite often our only moment of self-care in a day will be to have a shower and that may not even be alone. Using a product that feels like a treat and makes you feel good is essential in grounding yourself. The ritual of washing away the day can be quite symbolic and give you a minute of mindfulness to restore and centre.

I adore the L’Occitane Almond Shower oil. This lush oil feels heavenly on the skin and soon transforms into a creamy milk that hydrates the skin. It will leave you and the house smelling delicious for hours after.

Embrace Your Natural Beauty

Above all, embrace your natural beauty and the journey your body has been through. Celebrate the changes and the incredible strength of motherhood. Focus on self-love and embracing your unique features. Remember that true beauty comes from within and radiates when you feel confident.
